British High Commissioner to Bangladesh Sarah Cooke held a meeting with senior leaders of the opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Sunday (June 16) morning.
The hour-long meeting took place at the BNP chairperson's political office in the capital’s Gulshan area, beginning around 10:30 am.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir led the party delegation, which included Standing Committee member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan and Organising Secretary Shama Obayed — both members of the party’s Foreign Affairs Advisory Committee.
The BNP’s media cell member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed the meeting.
While no official statement was issued, a senior BNP official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the talks centred on the prevailing political situation in Bangladesh and the national election, which is expected to take place in February 2026.
